The Shilluk are Nilotic people living along the Nile in Sudan. According to local history, their kingdom was founded in the 16th century by Nyikang who united the various groups living in the area.

The Shilluk dynasty rules from the royal capital Pashoda and when there's a change of throne, the tradition requires specific acts where everyone in the tribe participates.
